How old should my child be before auditioning for company or Nutcracker?

Readiness for participating in a performance is based on many factors. For the dance companies, we generally recommend that students entering are in a minimum of 4th grade and have danced for a least two complete years in jazz and/or ballet. For the Nutcracker, students must be a minimum age of 8 and have completed one year of Children's Ballet 3 or Teen Ballet 2 or above.

 There will be a message on the studio voice mail regarding class cancellations by 12:00 p.m.
Tuition will not be prorated due to inclement
weather, however, students have the option
to attend a make-up class.

Dimensions Dance Center presents “The Nutcracker” each December edited to present a complete story in a time format suitable for all ages.

Performed in two acts, The Nutcracker is one of the last of Tchaikovsky's full-length ballets. It is based on E.T.A. Hoffman's tale of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and was first performed at the Maryinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia on December 18, 1892. The French choreographer Marius Petipa worked closely with composer Peterllych Tchaikovsky on the score. For the Dimensions Dance Center's production, Sandra Morgan and Michael Newton have designed choreography that strenghthens the story line, highlights the artistry, and is edited to reach audiences of varying ages.

Dancers are cast by audition. Auditions for the 2010 production will be held Saturday, August 28.
